Facilities Technician

Regular, full-time, Lab Assistant in an FDA auditable contract analytical laboratory operating within a defined Quality System. The position is a key support role whose responsibilities include: ensuring clean glassware availability, maintaining an organized laboratory workspace, and supporting the continual flow of lab procedures. Additionally, this role will provide assistance to the analytical, quality assurance, and administrative staff.

Specific Duties

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) and work within the laboratory quality system (FDA regulated environment). This includes creating, revising, and reviewing controlled procedures for the continuous improvement of the Quality System.
  • Ownership of laboratory glassware cleaning. Responsible for daily maintenance and training of new.
  • Facility preventative maintenance lead. Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment (such as the fume hoods, incubators, etc.), including qualifications and equipment onboarding.
  • Perform routine interior and exterior maintenance tasks which may include; processing laundry, organizing storage areas, waste disposal, installing storage devices, and facilitate building maintenance with outside vendors.
  • Responsible for receiving and inspection of general laboratory supplies and customer test articles.
  • Purchasing agent who is responsible for performing weekly ordering, supply checks and order follow ups.
  • Shipping and vendor returns; including dangerous goods shipping.
  • Perform activities for the stability storage program, including receiving test samples and overseeing timepoint pulls.
  • Regularly collaborates with laboratory staff to prioritize laboratory and office needs.

Education/Previous Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • The ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems
  • Hands-on laboratory experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) experience
  • The ability to maintain and calibrate technical equipment
