An update on our transition towards becoming a part of Element Materials Technologies


Steve Goodger

Steve brings more than 30 years of finance and operations experience, primarily in the life sciences industry. More recently, he has been focused on adding value through building scalable systems and processes in C-level positions in craft brewing and life sciences ventures. Steve earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Miami University, and has passed all parts of the CPA exam.

Sarah Brophy
Director of Analytical Services

Sarah has been with VR Analytical since 2006, overseeing E&L studies and also contributing to VR's strategic planning, growth, and staff development. Sarah works closely with customers to develop and design their E&L programs, managing studies through their lifecycle, and determining next steps when needed. Sarah earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Oregon State University, and has co-authored multiple scientific presentations.

Denise Bestwick
Co-Head of Quality

Denise's career has been a journey through bio-/pharmaceutical, medical device, and analytical service industries, with leadership roles in operations, quality, regulatory, and organizational development. She understands the complexities of cGMP manufacturing and regulatory compliance in a dynamic global marketplace. Denise believes that  organizations like VR must create value for customers by providing leadership in the context of evolving industry expectations, and delivering exceptional science and operational excellence when designing and executing E&L studies. Denise is a graduate of Willamette University with a degree in chemistry and holds several professional coaching credentials.

Sara Bouska, M.S.
Co-Head of Quality

Sara Joined VR Analytical in 2003 and has been intimately involved with the development and continual improvement of the Quality System. Sara ensures processes are designed to lead to the accurate and reliable generation of data with a high degree of scientific integrity, are cGMP compliant, and maximize efficiency without sacrifice to quality. Sara holds both a B.S. and M.S. from Oregon State University in Natural Sciences.

Lori Reed
Sr. Program Manager

Lori has been with VR Analytical since 2012, overseeing and growing the trace elemental analysis laboratory. She has been working in elemental analysis for over 25 years, including previous experience in a GLP regulated toxicology laboratory. Lori earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Eastern Washington University.

Cate Hass, M.S.
Senior Project Manager

After starting her work in the laboratory at VR in 2004, Cate naturally migrated into project management in 2007. Cate is involved with customers and projects from initial study design, through the approval of the final report. Cate has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and an M.S. degree in Genetics.

Martin "Marty" McCoy
Strategic Consultant

Marty brings a well proven record of success in business to business development, technical sales, multi-cultural insight, and custom engagement services. His experience includes building both domestic and international B2B relationships across multiple markets involving laboratory, analysis, and analytical services. Marty is a chemist by education (analytical - chromatography and spectroscopy) with extensive global business and team experience.
